Register to vote online
If you have an NC drivers license or NC DMV ID, you can now register to vote online! You can register as a new voter or update your party affiliation and address.
Registering to vote online is quick and easy. Just follow these steps!
Click the blue “Go to Voter Registration Application” button (or click here)
Enter either your NC drivers license number or NC DMV ID card number in the first field – OR – enter your Social Security number in the second field. Enter your date of birth in the third field.

Notes
- Updated information ONLY applies to your voter registration, not your ID (you can register at your current residence; it does not need to match the address on your ID).
- The online platform DOES NOT allow users to change their name.
- Voters who DO NOT have an NC drivers license or NC DMV ID card, or who want to change their name for voter registration can download, complete and return the registration application to your county board of elections.
