2026 NC CIVIC FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

About

You Can Vote's NC Civic Fellowship Program recruits student leaders across the state to spearhead nonpartisan voter-empowerment campaigns on their campuses and in surrounding communities. Fellows educate, register and mobilize their classmates and neighbors to cast their ballot with confidence in North Carolina elections.

Requirements

  • The NC Civic Fellowship Program is open to students who attend colleges, universities, and community colleges in North Carolina.

  • Fellows must be located in North Carolina throughout their fellowship and be willing to attend in-person events.

  • Fellows must commit up to 10 hours a week during their fellowship.

  • Availability on weekends to attend events is required.

Program dates and pay

  • Fellows can choose to start at the beginning or end of the summer. In 2026, Fellows can start June 1 or August 10. To start August 10, candidates must apply by Monday, August 3. Click the button below to apply.

  • Fellowships end in mid- to late-November, after the conclusion of that year’s election. In 2026, fellowships end November 20.

  • Fellows are paid by the hour for up to 10 hours a week, paid every other week. Hours can vary from week to week. In 2026, Fellows are paid $18 an hour on average.

  • Payments are made by direct deposit. Fellows must be able to receive direct deposits to get paid.
