Civics Fellow

You Can Vote (YCV) works to ensure that eligible voters are registered and educated about the current election and voting rules so they can vote. YCV Civics Fellows facilitate non-partisan voter education and registration, build volunteer and community networks, and learn valuable skills in organizing, data, research, and fundraising. The Fellowship also includes professional development workshops with policy and nonprofit leaders.

YCV is now accepting applications for Civics Fellows! Fellows will make a HUGE difference in the lead up to the 2020 election. We are offering paid (full time) and unpaid (part time) fellow positions. We are flexible on timing: spring, summer, fall or winter through 2020.

Fellows will work closely with organizers to assist in developing voter education and turnout plans, including

  • Identifying and recruiting volunteers who will educate and turn-out their peers.

  • Working with leaders to organize and execute events such as volunteer recruitment, trainings, and voter education drives

  • Planning for and leading community events and coaching new volunteers.

Skills and Experience

YCV is looking for self-starters, willing to work with a variety of volunteers and volunteer leaders. All YCV Civics Fellows must be willing to learn and comply with all non-partisan voter registration laws. You are a fit for this fellowship if you have:

  • A deep interest in social, economic and political justice in North Carolina

  • Strong verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and exercise good judgment

  • Dual language skills a plus, especially Spanish

  • Desire to help build a sustaining non-partisan campaign for long-term civic involvement.
