    CAPTAINS TRAINING

    Come learn how to Captain You Can Vote events! Volunteer captains help us expand our reach and provide registration at a growing number of sites. Captains work when they want, but have an added layer of responsibility for making sure all YCV procedures and protocols are followed for each event. 

    New and seasoned Captains are welcome, and need to attend a 2019 Training.

    TWO OPTIONS FOR JOINING THIS TRAINING:

    Join us to educate voters about gerrymandering and mobilize support for Fair Maps Now!

    This is a great way to get involved even if you've never done anything with You Can Vote before. Event captains will provide on site training & you will be sent out in teams with scripts and materials provided. All volunteers welcome.

    Want to help voters learn about voter ID and make their vote count? Join us for a community training! 

    We use evidenced-based messaging, easy to read and understand election hand-outs and best practices for voter engagement. We recommend all volunteers attend a 2019 training. It is essential that our volunteers are prepared to communicate the new ID requirements in a manner that will not unintentionally disenfranchise voters. 

    You will learn: 
    - Up-to-date voting laws
    - 2019 Election Schedule and what is on the ballot
    - How to successfully educate and motivate voters to cast their ballot
    - Voter Registration best practices
    - How YOU can help citizens vote

    Please join us for voter outreach at the Durham County Courthouse.  Lots of folks move through this facility every day, so it's a busy lobby to with many opportunities to talk with voters.

    Join us for outdoor tabling at the Durham Co-op Market!  This is a great location with lots of traffic at their Thursday $3 dinners.  We will make sure voters know about the upcoming municipal elections, and make sure people are registered.
