Student voting in North Carolina
Know your rights and make your voice heard!
Register and vote at your campus address
You can register either at a home address or a campus address. For most students, it's easiest to vote in-person where you will be during Early Voting or on Election Day. If you live on campus, click below to find the correct campus address to use on your voter registration form.
Make a plan and choose where you want to vote
If you live on or near campus during the election, it’s probably easiest to register and vote using your campus address.
If you want to vote in your home county, register at your parents address and MAKE A PLAN to go home to vote in-person or request an absentee ballot.
From another state? You can register and vote in NC using your campus address. Want to vote in your home state? You will have to request and return an absentee ballot from that state in advance of the election.
Find your voting locations
During early voting, you can vote at any early voting site in your county. Same-day registration is available during early voting ONLY. If you need to register or update your registration, VOTE EARLY! Click here to find early voting sites and learn about same-day registration requirements.
On Election Day, vote where you are registered. NO CHANGES can be made on Election Day! Use the Voter Lookup tool to confirm your registration and find your election day voting site. Name not showing up? You may not be registered to vote! Contact your county Board of Elections or get registered and vote same-day during EARLY VOTING.
What’s on your ballot?
You Can Vote has a new tool that voters can use to get trusted, nonpartisan information about the local offices and candidates on their ballot this fall!
