Student voting in North Carolina

Know your rights and make your voice heard!

Make a Plan! Choose where you want to vote.

  • If you live on or near campus during the election, it might be easiest to register and vote using your campus address.

  • If you want to vote in your home county, register at your parents address and MAKE A PLAN to vote in-person or request an absentee ballot.

  • To vote in your home state, you will need to request an absentee ballot from that state in advance of the election.

Learn what’s on your ballot.

  1. Learn what offices are on the ballot in 2019 and 2020 and what they do.

  2. Lookup the candidates on your ballot. Enter your address on VOTE411.org

Find your voting schedule.

  1. Vote at any Early Voting site in your county. If you need to register, VOTE EARLY! (see student voting rights handout to learn what you need to bring).

  2. On Election Day, vote where you are registered. NO CHANGES can be made on Election Day!

Name not showing up? You may not be registered to vote! Contact your county Board of Elections or get registered at EARLY VOTING!
